The Cooma & Region Homelessness Support Service operates across the Cooma Snowy Monaro region to provide a generalist Homelessness Support Service. Our trained & qualified staff will provide tailored support, advocacy & outreach to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our services includes crisis and transitional accommodation which can be offered to families through assessment of need and availability of this accommodation at any given time. The Cooma & Region Homelessness Support Service primary objective is to ensure people who are experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of homelessness are supported to achieve safe and stable housing in the community.

How to access services

Referrals can be made directly to Mission Australia by health services, family members, self-referrals or other community organisations. Referral forms can be submitted in one of two ways; by presenting in office and speaking to a staff member or emailing referral to CoomaSHS@missionaustralia.com.au and a staff member will contact person requesting assistance to conduct intake and assessment process. Individuals can phone the Mission Australia office on 02 6452 3623. Cooma and Region Homelessness Support Service offer a 24/7 crisis line and will respond to crisis situations for those individuals homeless or at risk of homelessness as a result of domestic and family violence, should individuals need assistance they can phone 02 6452 3623 and a staff member will respond to the needs of the individual.

Criteria for accessing services

Cooma & Region Homelessness Support Services are available to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including;

• Single women and men aged 25 and over
• Single young people over 16
• Families including couples with or without children or other family groupings
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
