FIRST NATIONS TENANT INFORMATION HUB

This is our First Nations Hub where tenants, staff and the community can find resources, tools, events and significant information that facilitates reconciliation, and celebrates First Nations Peoples, their culture, stories, history and communities.

Southern Cross Housing’s (SCH) vision for reconciliation is to work together with First Nations communities to create homes, places and spaces that are welcoming, safe, and appropriate for First Nations Peoples and their families. SCH committed to providing culturally safe and responsive services & programs that empower and support First Nations People across their housing journey.

SCH is dedicated to building stronger communities and broadening our services for all First Nations stakeholders to strengthen cultural connections and positively affect change for our First Nations residents and their communities. SCH will continue to strive for positive cultural outcomes by working collaboratively and inclusively with First Nations service users and service providers.

SCH is committed to providing opportunities for collaboration and self-determination with First Nations Peoples, their families, and communities. We do this by:

  • Providing platforms such as the Aboriginal Tenants Advisory Committee (ATAC) to enable our First Nations tenants to have a say in how we do things
  • Creating an environment where our First Nations tenants and stakeholders can communicate with us openly to achieve better housing outcomes for all
  • Working respectfully & transparently with our tenants and service users and strive to strengthen our community connections to support Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples to live safely and happily in their homes.
  • Staying focused on increasing positive socio-economic outcomes for our First Nations residents and will achieve this by specifying priorities, goals, targets and timeframes against key priority areas, as set out within our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Aboriginal Tenant Advisory Committee (ATAC)

The Southern Cross Housing Tenant Advisory Committees or (TAC’s) are a great way for you to provide tenant input into the way that Southern Cross Housing delivers its services and programs. TAC members develop an in-depth understanding of the range of services and activities that are provided and supported by Southern Cross Housing and participation can provide you with skills in leadership, advocacy, and event management.

The ATAC provides a forum for Southern Cross Housings (SCH) First Nations residents to provide feedback on the organisation’s services, policies and procedures, and provide tenant input into decision-making to raise the profile of First Nations Peoples and their communities.

If you are interested in joining the ATAC please read the Terms of Reference ATAC Terms of Reference and complete a Nomination Form Nomination Form
