We know that starting work can sometimes mean that you need to spend money on new clothes, equipment and/or travel costs. To help makes the transition more manageable, Southern Cross Housing’s Start Work Bonus will enable you to effectively freeze your increased rent payments for 26 weeks.

  • The person starting work must be an approved household occupant aged 18 or over.
  • The new job starter must also be living in a Social Housing property that is owned or managed by Southern Cross Housing, and
  • Have received a government pension, benefit or allowance as the primary source of income for the last 12 months (minimum).

Applications for funding can be made by completing this form which is available here, and may be submitted at any time.
Select the Start Work Bonus Fact Sheet for more information, or contact the Southern Cross Housings Communities Assist Team on 1300 757 885, or email communities@scch.org.au.

*The subsidy is for the increased rent amount where tenants have been paying a subsidised rent because of low income or statutory earnings.
