Shoalhaven Youth Support Service
Provider Description
SYSS provides support to 16-24 yo who are homeless or at risk of homelessness within the Shoalhaven Region. SYSS provide short term accommodation (6-8 weeks), and transitional accommodation (3-6 months). The service provides dedicated case work support where the team work collaboritivly with young people to create a Case Plan to identify and achieve goals that will assist the young person break down the barriers that are causing them to be homeless. The emergency accommodation is staffed 24 hours, 7 days a week. SYSS assist young people with referrals for housing, mental health support, drug and alcohol services, and run a learner driver program.
How to Access Services
To access SYSS, a young person can self refer, or be referred by a school, teacher or community service. Contacting the SYSS service via email or phone for access to a referral form.
Criteria For Accessing Services
SYSS intake policy requires the young person to be between the ages of 16-24, and be homeless or at risk of homelessness. The SYSS team will do an initial assessment with the individual which is traiged by the team. The triage is to ensure the safety of the individual, other young people and the staff at SYSS.
